Potts Point Hotel is screening the 2026 Ampol State of Origin opener LIVE on our internal screens. Join us on Wednesday 27 May from 8pm as the NSW Blues take on the QLD Maroons at Accor Stadium, just down the road in Homebush. Cheer them on (or just come for the pints).
$5 pints of Carlton from 8pm to first points. Internal screens only (no TVs outside), so book a table to lock in your spot near the action.

LIVE on the Internal Screens 📺
We’re broadcasting Game 1 with full sound on the screens inside the PPH pub level. Internal only (no TVs out the front), so head in and post up where you can hear every hit, every play, and every Tedesco or Munster moment. Stadium atmosphere without the stadium prices, right here on Darlinghurst Road.
$5 Carlton Pints (8pm to First Points) 🍺
From 8pm until the first points are scored, we’re slinging $5 pints of our Carlton. Whichever side puts points on the board first, the deal ends. Get in early, get a round in, and get settled before kick-off at 8:05pm.
Book a Table Near the Screens 🪑
Walk-ins are welcome, but we strongly recommend booking a table for Origin Game 1. Bookings lock in a seat with a clear view of an internal screen, which matters because this one always packs out. Hit the Book a Table button at the bottom of the page.
Full Bistro Menu All Night 🍔
Our full menu runs throughout the match, including our slow smoked meats, burgers, salads, and share plates. Plus craft beers, cocktails, and cold drinks on tap. No need to eat before you arrive.
Kick on After Full Time 🎉
Win, lose or draw, the night doesn’t have to end at full time. Head upstairs to Sweethearts Terazza (Wed to Sun) to keep the party going. Wednesday Origin nights are a good one.
State of Origin Game 1 2026: The Matchup
Game 1 of the 2026 Ampol State of Origin series kicks off at Accor Stadium in Sydney on Wednesday 27 May, with the NSW Blues hosting the QLD Maroons. It’s the 45th annual series and the opening salvo in Australia’s fiercest sporting rivalry. Queensland come in as defending champions after pinching the 2025 series 2-1, and Laurie Daley’s Blues are out for redemption on home turf.
James Tedesco returns to fullback for NSW, with Nathan Cleary and Mitchell Moses in the halves and Isaah Yeo leading the side as captain. Queensland’s Billy Slater has named four debutants including Sydney Roosters halfback Sam Walker, with Kalyn Ponga back in the mix. Across all-time series wins, Queensland leads 25-17 with two drawn, so the Blues have plenty to play for in front of their home crowd.
Accor Stadium holds 83,500 fans and Origin nights are loud from the first whistle. If you couldn’t grab a ticket, we’re 20 minutes from Homebush by train, and the pub will be electric.
